"Lief" - an adverb for "willing manner", or "gladly agreeing to do it". How appropriate to be a large part of the word "Belief"! Belief meaning that we accept something as true, or that it exists.
Is showing our BELIEF a big part of our daily life?!
Do we believe that GOD is a big part of our life?
Are we willing & gladly agreeing to His plan?!
Do we show others that we believe He is true, & exists in each moment?
Do we believe and trust in better days to come after hardships?
How strong is our belief in God's almighty healing power?
Are we reaching out to others-not just "talk the talk" but "walk the "walk?
Do we believe in the goodness of others, showing unconditional love?
What about offering forgiveness where it's needed?
Are we thankful to those who've fostered our belief?
Wow, these are some difficult questions that can keep our focus on Christ each day. Yet each day is filled with so much busy-ness in our business of life! There's so much on our minds, especially as moms. Can you relate to this story by an anonymous writer, presumably a Mom too?!
A man came home from work and found his three children outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard. The door of his wife’s car was open, as was the front door to the house and there was no sign of the dog.
Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall. In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing.
In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door. He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened.
He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap, and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls.
As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went. He looked at her bewildered and asked:
“What happened here today?’”
She again smiled and answered, “You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world I do all day?”
“Yes,” was his incredulous reply. She answered, ‘”Well, today I didn’t do it.”
I can relate! On both aspects of being a stay-at-home mom as well as being a working mom! and blessed to be stay-at-summer mom now! We often feel like we are busy all day, crossing off our to-do lists, yet it doesn't feel like or even appear much got done at the end of our day! But if we can answer some of those questions above positively, and know that we loved and cared for our husbands and children... then we did a good job for that day, regardless of how many baskets of laundry are waiting to be folded, or how badly the floors need swept, mopped, or how dusty things are, or how many weeds our flower beds have... I can go on and on if you need more examples! haha!
Enjoy these summer months with your loved ones. Reflect on who and what you believe that is important to you ... Take time to live with Belief!
